There was no version of this test you could pass.

When an “afflicted” girl fell into convulsions in open court, the accused could be ordered to touch her — a witch’s power was believed to flow back into its owner on contact, ending the fit.

If the screaming stopped, that was proof. If you refused to touch her at all, that was proof too — of a witch too afraid to be caught.
